Under pressure in diabetes, Novo Nordisk steps up focus on obesity...
March 9 (Reuters) - Novo Nordisk's new chief executive is looking at making acquisitions to broaden the Danish drugmaker's product line-up, in a change of tack that reflects a need for fresh sources of growth at the world's biggest diabetes company.
Phentermine, which was also part of the cocktail, was not withdrawn and has subsequently been re-constituted as part of a weight-loss pill sold, relatively unsuccessfully, by Vivus Inc . The drug, Qsymia, had sales of just $23.7 million in 2013.

The threshold for pediatric obesity is a body mass index (BMI) - a ratio of weight to height - above the 95th percentile for children of the same age and gender.
Severe obesity is defined as a BMI 20% higher than the 95th percentile cutoff.
The new midriff-revealing post comes in the wake of people who have called out the reality star for using the diabetes drug Ozempic to helped her shed the pounds.

The FDA is due to decide whether to approve Orexigen's product this week. It may also compete with a new drug from Orexigen Inc. Novo Nordisk's drug, if approved, would compete with Qsymia and Belviq, a drug made by Arena Pharmaceuticals Inc and Eisai that has also had disappointing sales.
Although Wegovy was launched just six weeks back, prescriptions for the treatment have already reached a similar level to buy saxenda online, Novo's other obesity drug that was launched in 2015, the company said.
Predictably, Hollywood has been aware of Ozempic for a lot longer than us - Variety magazine recently quipped that the drug deserved its own thank-you speech at the Emmys, as so many stars on the podium had obviously been taking it.
Elon Musk raved about its more powerful sister drug, Wegovy, on Twitter; Kim Kardashian, it is hotly rumoured, used semaglutide to lose 16lb in order to fit into Marilyn Monroe's dress for the Met Ball. On TikTok the hashtag #ozempic has had more than 285 million views.
